Our Client Celebrates her 100th Birthday!
We feel that there is something special about reaching big milestones, we were fortunate enough to have one of our clients turn 100 in September this year.
Here’s what our client had to say about moments throughout her lifetime.
“My favourite decade was the 40’s, when I was 16 and the war started (it started two days after my birthday), I didn’t let this put a dampener on my youth and had some really good teenage years. I worked from the age of 14 and made lots of good friends, who at the time I didn’t realise would become life-long friends of mine. At that age I was able to spread my wings a little, the soldiers would come, and I found them very interesting and entertaining. We would go out on our bikes on day trips. We went to places like chipping Sodbury and Severn Beach which was always fun.
My favourite lifetime memory was when I had each of my children, I had two girls, my first I had at the age of 32 and on my clinic card it branded me ‘elderly’ I was mortified, I was only 32! Another time I am extremely proud of is when I got married, little did I know that this would last 70 years, and we would receive a lovely card from the Queen.
I have only actually felt like I was getting old in this last year, I am very independent and still do most things myself which I like but I do get a little help.
On my 100th birthday we had a tea party in the complex I live in with my friends and family, I was very spoilt. I got 32 cards! pot plants, balloons, other gifts, and lots of flowers…it looked like a florist in my house!I had a lovely time celebrating with everyone and was very happy with my card from The King and Camilla, I really liked the photo.”
