Claire Skilton, the Care Manager at Right at Home’s Bordon office has been certified as its registered manager following a rigorous assessment process with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
As registered manager, Claire takes on the legal responsibility of ensuring the safety and legality of the services provided by Right at Home Alton and Bordon’s caregivers. She takes over from Sara Woodley, the previous registered manager.
Alastair Shanks, Managing Director of Right at Home Alton and Bordon says: “On a personal level, I’m absolutely delighted for Claire. She has worked hard to complete the process and receive the CQC’s approval. Claire is modest in her achievement but the CQC rightly has a very strict process in judging whether an applicant is fit to take on these important responsibilities. It takes a lot of hard work and experience to reach this point.”
He continues: “It makes practical and business sense for the care manager to also be the registered manager, ensuring that the oversight of our standards and policies is carried out by the person who also oversees their practice.”
As well as a written application providing evidence to support her application, Claire completed a two-hour interview over Zoom with the CQC. She says: “Receiving the approval from the CQC was a very proud moment – even my children were proud! Reaching this point has been a continuous learning process – great for my professional development – and enables me to take forward my plans to further grow our services.”
Claire has a background in social work and previously held roles at Right at Home’s Farnham office and the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.
Sara Woodley has recently taken on the role of Acting Registered Manager at Right at Home’s new branch at Twickenham and Richmond and continues to be the Registered Manager at the Guildford and Farnham office.
