The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has endorsed local home care provider Right at Home Alton and Bordon with a rating of “good” following its inspection, meaning that the company is performing well. At the same time, Right at Home Alton and Bordon achieved a coveted top 20 place on the home care providers’ review website, homecare.co.uk.

“This is the first time that our Alton and Bordon service has been inspected by the CQC and we are very pleased that it judged every aspect of our service as good,” says Alastair Shanks, Managing Director of Right at Home Alton and Bordon. “The inspector rigorously assessed us in terms of safety, care, effectiveness, leadership and our responsiveness and awarded us as good across the board.”

A good rating is the second from top score that the CQC can award. Its highest rating is outstanding, followed by good, requires improvement and finally, inadequate. The CQC says that a good rating means that the service is performing well and meets all its expectations.

In its report, the CQC inspector highlighted that clients described Right at Home staff as “kind, caring and friendly” and that “people were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.” The report noted that staff took time to listen to clients and treated them with dignity.

Customer review website homecare.co.uk gave the company one of its top 20 home care provider awards for the South East region based on customer reviews. Homecare.co.uk is the leading review website for home care providers and uses reviews from clients, their families and friends to help prospective customers choose the right care company.

Mr Shanks says: “Since opening the Alton and Bordon branch in 2020 our entire staff and management team has worked tirelessly to provide excellent, personalised care to enable our clients to live comfortably, safely and independently in their own homes for as long as they can.

“I hope the CQC report gives existing and potential clients and their families confidence in our home care services. The positive reviews from our clients on homecare.co.uk is also a tremendous endorsement at an individual level and I hope indicates that we are largely getting it right for our clients.”

Claire Skilton, Registered Manager at Right at Home Alton and Bordon adds: “An additional benefit of an independent inspection from the CQC and customer reviews, is the steer they provide on changes we can make to further improve the quality of what we do. That helps us as care professionals and ultimately is good for our clients too.”
