Our approach

We love to support talent from within our business to reach their career goals, however big or small they may be. Whatever your ambitions and learning needs, we have the training and support available to suit you. Lots of team members within the Right at Home network started as CareGivers and are now Seniors, Coordinators or even Registered Managers.

At Right at Home Bishop’s Stortford & Braintree, we have 3 Senior CareGivers who all joined us initially as CareGivers and subsequently stepped up. One of them is flying through her Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care!

We find out about your goals, aspirations and career ambitions and devise a plan together on how to help you achieve them. With industry-leading training and bespoke Right at Home training courses, there is no better place to develop your career in care.

Career development at Right at Home

There are lots of roles in our offices which require varying skills. Training to be a professional CareGiver is where most people start. The majority of our roles either require care experience or this is at least a strong preference. You will gain essential skills, knowledge and experience in the care sector which you can then transfer to more senior and office-based positions. It takes a certain type of person to work in care, read more here to see if you are a good fit for this compassionate & rewarding role.

“The most successful CareGivers are highly empathetic people who enjoy helping others. They will go out of their way to make sure their vulnerable clients are safe and well supported. As well as this, to be a CareGiver you need a lot of other skills: interpersonal skills, communication skills, reliability, attention to detail, tenacity to name a few. I have so much admiration for people who do this demanding yet wonderful job”. Christopher Neal, MD at Right at Home Bishop's Stortford and Braintree.

Gold Standard Appraisal Programme

All of our team members are assessed using the Gold Standard. It helps you to identify what outstanding performance looks like, where you sit on that scale and what you need to do to reach the next level. The Gold Standard helps to nurture our top talent and encourage progression from within. It also creates an opportunity to demonstrate the amazing work you do and our staff find that it is a really useful tool for their career progression.

Training courses

Some of the training courses on offer include, but are not limited to: Autism & Learning Disabilities, Dementia, Mental Health & Care Coordinating. In a recent, independent survey, in which over 80% of our team members were surveyed, 100% of staff thought our training programmes were either Good or Outstanding.

Specialisms

Once CareGivers have gained some experience, they may decide that they have a particular interest in certain aspects of care, such as End of Life care. Right at Home can offer courses and practical experience to support you to specialise in these certain aspects of care. This could enable you to become a lead within the business on that particular specialism. Our previous End of Life Champion Katie had this to say: “I was incredibly proud of the work we did as a team for our end of life packages, to enable a families, at a very difficult time, to be fully supported is an absolute privilege”.

Training academy

Right at Home Bishop’s Stortford & Braintree is able to provide Train the Trainer courses for team members who can then go on and deliver high quality training courses inhouse to our own care team. These courses are perfect for more senior team members, training coordinators and those looking to become a trainer. The training sessions include Presentation Skills, Train the Trainer: Moving, Assisting and Hoisting, Train the Trainer: Basic Life Support and Train the Trainer: Medication Administration.

Manager’s Essential Standards

Even for more senior members of the team, we offer further training opportunities to enable you to further your skills.

The Manager’s Essential Standards course is delivered over the course of a week, including sessions on: Customer Experience, Leadership, HR, GDPR, Compliance and Train the Trainer: CareGiver Induction.
