It’s been a year to remember.
We’ve seen the very sad passing of a number of our most cherished entertainers. We’ve watched on incredulously as a lewd, rude, egocentric billionaire was elected into the most powerful job in the world. We’ve enjoyed extraordinary moments in the sporting arena – Leicester winning the Premier League, unparalleled Olympic success, and close to my heart, Henrik Stenson recording the lowest final round in major championship history, to win golf’s most coveted trophy in breathtaking fashion. We’ve also voted to leave the European Union, and only time will tell whether we’ve made the right decision.
On a personal level, I made the ‘right’ decision earlier this year. I decided to leave the career I had pursued since I was a child, and enter into this most rewarding industry, working within an incredibly forward thinking and supportive organisation.
After a couple of false starts back in the Spring, it was worth the wait, as fate delivered the lovely Louise to my door, who was destined to become my Manager. After serving her apprenticeship in various care jobs elsewhere, and studying hard to achieve increasingly higher care qualifications, Louise fully deserved the opportunity that arose to grasp her first senior role with Right At Home Mid Sussex. She has made an incredible start to her journey with us, and I do believe that between us we have a great balance of the skills, work ethic and rapport needed to grow the business together as a very close-knit team.
As we head into 2017, we have a sound platform to deliver quality care in Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and the surrounding area. We now have 14 excellent CareGivers on our books from all walks of life – some are experienced carers, one is an air hostess, one is a teaching assistant, and one is an Olympic bronze medallist!
We have already started to care for a number of amazing people in Mid Sussex, who all have such great stories to tell, and are so deserving of the quality service which we strive to offer. It has become clear that there is a huge demand for care services in this area, so we intend to focus on recruiting the very best staff, so that we can continue to ‘make a difference’ for as many people as we can.
To this extent, we have also decided to recruit extra office support early in the year, to pro-actively help with the efficient co-ordination of staff, and to add an extra dynamic to the office team. We will announce this more formally in the new year, but truth be told the lady in question is someone I have worked with before, and who I know shares my values of hard work, efficiency and customer service!
Right At Home Mid Sussex wish you a very happy and prosperous new year.
