Right at Home Bromley Celebrates Women in Homecare on International Women's Day

Published: 08/03/2023

At Right at Home Bromley, we have an exceptional team of women across all positions in our business. On International Women’s Day, as well as every other day of the year, we celebrate the women who work hard to provide the highest quality care to some of our most vulnerable Clients.

This International Women’s Day, we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the women making a difference in Right at Home Bromley. At Right at Home Bromley on International Women’s Day, we’d like to thank all of the women who work tirelessly every day to transform the lives of our Clients.

This year’s International Women’s Day is focused on embracing equity and ensuring everyone has access to the same opportunities despite their background, mental or physical ability, race or gender.

Women often form the majority of the care industry. Adult social care workforce data from Skills for Care shows that 82% of care workers are women. However, in senior management roles across care, the proportion of women decreases to 68%. We firmly believe in the importance of placing women in all positions throughout the business: from care roles to senior management positions. We strive to be a business free from bias; we appreciate hard work and give recognition where it is due.

For Right at Home Bromley this means, we are committed to listening to our team, ensuring that we create a work environment that provides:

• Inclusivity at work
• Equality in the workplace
• Equal opportunities regardless of gender/position
• Career progression for all

We are always learning, continuing to grow as a business, and encouraging everyone at Right at Home Bromley to contribute ideas that support our development. Together we can all #EmbraceEquity.

How Right at Home Bromley supports women in the workplace

At Right at Home Bromley, we have a great team of women in all positions throughout our company. So it’s absolutely essential to us that these individuals are supported in their roles and able to reach their full potential. Here are a few  ways we support our Bromley-based team:

A care job with flexible hours / Care work that fits around your lifestyle / Rewarding work that fits your schedule

We support our team members with flexible hours, allowing them to create their perfect work life balance. A good work-life balance is a key factor in maintaining positive well-being. Whether you are a working mum or a part time student, you’ll find a work pattern that works for you.

Achievable progression routes / Realistic career pathways / Structured development opportunities

Our company is made up of many inspirational women that make our business thrive. Our female Manager Claire is a passionate leader who cares about making a positive difference and enabling our team to achieve their ambitions. Having such a strong female leader at Right at Home Bromley helps influence women starting their careers, as it gives them someone to look up to, eliminates the glass ceiling and creates more opportunities for women.

Supporting team members at all stages of their life

80% of our team are likely to experience menopause. It’s therefore very important to us at Right at Home Bromley that we support women during this time and are as understanding as possible of their  individual experiences. We hold training and awareness sessions and have useful resources available for all team members to increase their understanding of menopause, whether it’s for themselves or to help them support colleagues. To find out more about menopause and relevant support read our Pause for Menopause booklet.

A family-feel culture

At Right at Home Bromley we aim to create a family-feel environment where team members are encouraged to talk openly about any issues that they are facing. Communication between all team members involves mutual respect and understanding. We create a comfortable and inclusive working environment by having an open door policy, holding regular team bonding days and actively listening to feedback and suggestions. Last year we also did karaoke night with caregivers and their children. It’s important to us that we grow and develop relationships around the workplace.

We are always on the lookout for new additions to our team and always eager to increase the number of people making a difference in the lives of our Clients.
