There was a great atmosphere at the Alzheimer Café in Camberley this Monday evening (January 18th). Mr Ablen Dacalos, Clinical Lead Nurse Specialist at Frimley Park Hospital gave a talk on “How Dementia affects us inside: The range of emotions”, which was very warmly received, and Fay Freemantle from the Alzheimer’s Society along with Simon provided a lovely musical concert during the interlude.
The Alzheimer Café provides a space in which the issues surrounding dementia can be aired and problems voiced. It has a very friendly and relaxed feel and provides families and professionals with the opportunity to share their feelings, discuss problems, give and receive guidance and education, and make friends.
Bob Thornton, owner of Right at Home Camberley and Alzheimer’s Café volunteer, said: “We will be delighted to welcome any new attendees to the Camberley Alzheimer Café -please come and join us. It is held every third Monday of the month at 6.30pm at St Mary’s Church, Park Rd, Camberley Surrey GU15 2SR and there is a very welcoming atmosphere – we hope anyone affected by Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia will be encouraged to call in.”
