A brand new website has been launched with the aim of helping older people adapt driving changes and ensure their safety on the roads.
Caroline Abrahams, Age UK, Charity Director, said
“Driving brings freedom and independence and it’s important that people are supported to continue driving safely for as long as possible”
The website www.olderdrivers.org.uk has been launched by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)
There are great tips on how older drivers can review their road skills and knowledge to ensure that their independence and freedom is maintained. There is also great tips and advice for family members who may have concerns over their loved ones out on the road.
Kevin Clinton, RoSPA’s head of road safety, said
“The aim of the website is to help older people to continue to drive for as long as they are safe to do so, and to provide advice on making the decision to retire from driving if they are no longer able to drive safely”
According to RoSPA, more than 14,000 people pass away as a result of road accidents across the UK each year
