DAW 2019: Becoming a Dementia Friend

Dementia Friendsis an Alzheimer’s Societyinitiative which aims to give people a better understanding of what it is like living with dementia. Here at Right at Home, we regularly hold Dementia Friends information sessions to support the communities where we live and operate to become dementia friendly.

What does a Dementia Friend do?

Dementia Friendshelp people living with dementia by taking actions- both big and small.

These actions don’t have to be time-consuming. From visiting someone you know with dementia, to being more patient in a shop queue, every action counts! Dementia Friends can also get involved with things like volunteering, campaigning or wearing a badge to raise awareness.

Who can become a Dementia Friend?
These sessions are open to anyone and everyone who wants to help people with dementia in their community and have a better understanding of what it is like living with dementia.

Our Dementia Friends pledge
As part of our charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, we have pledged to make 1,000 Dementia Friends over the next 12 months across the Right at Home network of offices, as well as raising more than £20,000 to help fund vital research.

If you would like more information on becoming a Dementia Friend, please get in touch. Right at Home will also be attending the Alzheimer’s Showat the Olympia London on 7thand 8thJune. You can find us on stand A1.
