Home Care Myths

Last week we answered some of the most frequently asked questions we receive on becoming a CareGiver. This week, we’re looking to dispel five common myths around home care.

Care visits are rushed and only last 15 minutes – MYTH

At Right at Home, we have a one-hour minimum policy for care visits. This policy allows our CareGivers enough time to support Clients to achieve their own daily goals and really make a difference to their day. It also enables our CareGivers to get to know their Clients and notice when things are not quite right, so spotting any potential health issues early.

Care is only for the elderly – MYTH

Whilst some of our Clients are indeed elderly, we support adults of any age.

CareGivers are only for personal care – MYTH

We offer a whole range of services, as well as personal care. These services include companionship, hospital to home, transportation and errands, through to full-time live in care and specialist Dementia care.

More information can be found on the services section of our website.

Care will only be provided in the home setting – MYTH

Many of our services are carried out in the Client’s home but at Right at Home, we really focus on improving the quality of our Clients’ lives, so we support them to get out and about in the local community. Whether your loved one would like support with a trip to the hairdressers, or attending a weekly social club, we can help. Every care package is personalised and tailored to suit and meet the needs of the individual, so no two care packages are the same.

Residential care is the only option if my loved one needs full-time care – MYTH

For Clients who require full-time care but wish to remain living in the comfort of their own home, we offer a live in care service. There are numerous benefits of live in care; you and your loved one remain in control of the care provided, you have total peace of mind that your loved one is safe in familiar surroundings and they keep to their preferred routine.

More information on our live in care service can be found here.
