Right at Home Bedford is now in the hands of new owners, after relocation plans prompted a franchise resale.

The business has been purchased by wife-and-husband team Jo and Rama Kadi, who say they are highly motivated to continue building upon the strong foundations laid by outgoing franchisee and owner, Jagdeep Ahluwalia.

Under Jagdeep’s leadership, RaH Bedford has become the homecare provider of choice in the local area, gaining an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission at its first inspection in May 2023, just 18 months after opening.

Jagdeep said: “It has been a great privilege to have led Right at Home Bedford for the last two years. From the outset I set out a vision of being the most respected provider in Bedfordshire and, together with my team, I feel we have reached this goal.”

Explaining his decision to sell the franchise, Jagdeep said: “Having grown Right at Home Bedford from zero Clients to where it is now, it has been an extremely difficult decision to sell the company.

“However, with our upcoming relocation to Warwickshire, we feel this is the best decision for the family.”

New beginnings

Jo and Rama join the RaH network with a proven passion for caring for vulnerable adults.

Originally from India, the couple continue to manage a charity that supports elderly and disadvantaged people living in the village of Pochampalli, after having moved to the UK in 2006.

Rama is a financial advisor, while Jo has spent most of her career in tech roles within the pharmaceutical industry, including project implementation and quality assurance.

The couple hopes that the skills and knowledge they have gained over the years will help them run a successful business and deliver quality care in Bedford.

Jo said: “We decided to take on a franchise with Right at Home because it aligns perfectly with our passion for helping people, especially the elderly. With our background in running a charity dedicated to caring for individuals who need assistance, we've gained invaluable experience and insight into the needs of this demographic.

“By joining Right at Home, we saw an opportunity to extend our reach and provide professional, compassionate care to even more seniors within my community. It's not just a business venture for both of us; it's a continuation of our commitment to making a positive difference to the lives of others.”

Jo and Rama have completed 10 days of induction training at National Office, gaining knowledge from all departments about the management aspects of the Right at Home business model.

And Jagdeep will be working alongside Right at Home’s National Office team to support the new owners and ensure a smooth transition over the coming months.

He commented: “I believe that Jo, Rama and the office team will not only ensure the quality of services is maintained, but also have a positive impact on the way the service will be run in the future.”
