Local care home provider Right at Home GF has put out an appeal for superheroes to join its team as requests for critical care and support reach new levels during the coronavirus outbreak.

Right at Home caregivers visit some of the most vulnerable people in the community. They help with essential tasks such as shopping, medication, personal care, cooking a meal and offering companionship.

Alastair Shanks, Managing Director of Right at Home GF says: “Our dedicated team is doing a wonderful job of rising to the challenge of helping some of the most vulnerable members of our society. By being able to fulfil our duty to provide care to those who most need it, we can help ease pressure on the NHS by keeping people out of hospital so that precious resources and beds can be used for coronavirus patients.

“We are currently experiencing an increase in demand for services such as shopping and social interaction. So we do not have to turn people away during their time of need, I am making a personal appeal to all recently retired careworkers, people who have experience of caring for a loved one and people from other industries who want to make a difference to step forward and get in touch.”

The recruitment process begins with a phone conversation so that those who are interested can find out what’s involved. This will be followed by an interview, induction training and shadowing. Right at Home GF offers job security in a time of uncertainty, job satisfaction and is for anybody who truly cares and understands people.

As well as recruiting caregivers, Right at Home GF is also looking to attract volunteers who want to help with fulfilling care needs for a vulnerable person in their community. Alastair Shanks explains: “We are fast progressing a new range of support services to help people over the next few weeks and months. We are planning to help with shopping, to offer a weekly social phone call and are even looking at a virtual version of Singing for the Mind. To get this initiative off the ground we need volunteers – preferably those with an advanced DBS check. If this sounds like you and you want to help, please do get in touch.”
