Our fundraising dementia friendly Musical Memories event returns to the Farnham Maltings for its sixth year on Sunday 13th October.
Music can trigger memories of happy times and guests are welcome to sing along to any of the classic songs and golden oldies – it’s all very relaxed.
Close harmony singers, In Accord, will treat us to a variety of different music styles – in the past we have enjoyed Bridge over Troubled Water, Bohemian Rhapsody and a James Bond medley.
It is a relaxed and sociable event with a chance to join in the singing for those that want to and enjoy a chat over tea and cake.
A previous guest, who attended with her 101yr old father, was very impressed:
“My father loved it. He likes music but isn’t so keen on singing so when I heard him singing some of the tunes in the car afterwards I was gobsmacked.”
The event raises funds for regular Singing for the Mind sessions in Fleet, Farnham and Guildford where people living with dementia meet for a sing-along. Singing for the Mind offers a great opportunity to exercise the vocal chords, sing a few classic songs, as well as learn the occasional simple new tunes.
Tickets, to include tea and cake, are £15; carers go free.
