Live-in care enables you to continue living safely in the comfort of your own home with a CareGiver available to assist you with your usual daily routine. It is a viable alternative to moving into a care home, providing you with the care and support you need to remain independent and is the cost equivalence to most residential care homes. During such challenging times as these with the highly contagious coronavirus spreading through our country’s care homes, this could be an excellent answer to isolating safely knowing you or your loved one can stay safe at home whilst preventing loneliness caused by isolation.

So how does it work?

At Right at Home in Havant we have been providing Live-in Care for over three years and currently have eight Clients benefiting from this type of care. Our CareGiver takes up residence in your home and provides you with care whilst living with you. A separate room and bed needs to be provided along with food. Usually the CareGiver will complete the shopping and prepare the meals for both. In addition to shopping and cooking other duties include cleaning, medication reminders and running errands. Our CareGivers will also offer support and encouragement to enable you to continue with hobbies and interests such as gentle gardening, short walks and other light exercises. Our team are all highly trained including the latest infection prevention & control with COVID 19 and are personally interviewed by our Owner/Director, Duncan Cameron, to ensure they meet the high standards expected. Police and reference checks plus induction training is also a requirement before anyone will start an assignment. Once we are satisfied and the CareGiver signed off as competent we will match the individual to your requirements and preferences.  All our Live In CareGivers speak fluent English and many will have a full UK driver’s license and access to their own vehicle. Most of out Live In CareGivers are female, but we do have some male CareGivers too and are a mixture of ages. We know that a successful CareGiver and Client match is very important and makes for a long term positive experience.

How long does the Live In CareGiver stay?

Typically, the assignment will last for 6 – 8 weeks but this can vary depending on the circumstances of both parties. We allocate two or three CareGivers to an individual Client which changes on rotation and we will ensure that at least three rotations will be planned well in advance.

What makes Right at Home’s Live In Care so Outstanding?

The Clients and CareGivers are managed by a designated member of the Right at Home team. Belle Sproates, our Live In Coordinator and Deputy Care Manager (see photo), has plenty of experience both as a CareGiver and managing. She contacts both the Client, and/or a family member, on a weekly basis whilst independently speaking with the CareGivers too. This is to check that EVERYTHING is as planned and any changes to the schedule or any concerns can be manged and communicated promptly. Of course, an introduction is arranged prior to care commencement too.

What happens if the CareGiver and the Client do not get along?

Occasionally this happens but it’s not a big problem. We have a big team of Live In CareGivers and we will arrange for an another to take over without any fuss and it can usually be arranged without too much delay.

But don’t take our word for it, see what a few of our Clients’ family members say about the service…

“Right at Home have provided my mum with a Live In Carer for the last two and half years. The agency is exceptional, Duncan and his team go out of their way to provide an excellent service. My mum’s Carer is kind, caring and compassionate and mum thinks of her as more of a companion and friend, rather than a Carer. I would thoroughly recommend RAH to anybody looking for a Live In carer.”  Jan H. (Clients daughter)

“My father was looked after with full time care from September 2018 until 31st December 2019, when sadly he passed away. I was so delighted with the love care and attention given to him over that period. The live in carers always went the extra mile for him. Nothing was too much trouble and I know he was so pleased with the manner in which he was looked after. Dad was a very kindly man, ex-army and lived to a wonderful age of 103 and 7 months. I wish he was still here, but I am so pleased with the care given to him. Thank you all so much for making his final years so enjoyable.”   Greg H. (Client’s son)

“I would like to thank Maja, my parents’ Carer, and all the team for the amazing care and support that you have given to my parents at the very difficult time. I am unable to go and visit my parents due to the restrictions but  I know my parents are happy, secure and well looked after as they have gained a friend as well as a carer.”  Michelle R. (Client’s daughter)

“My Mum has had great care from Right at Home throughout the last year as her Alzheimer’s Disease has got more advanced. All the Live-In CareGiver’s have been just that – so caring. As soon as it became clear that Mum needed round the clock care, Right at Home set up a system of two Live-In CareGivers who between them are there for Mum 24/7.  For Mum and the rest of the family they have become friends and created a calm and relaxed home reducing her anxiety so she has quality of life and dignity. She has received continuity of safe care during the Coronavirus lock down which has allowed her family much peace of mind.” Tim S. (Client’s son)
