Staying Fit and Well in Winter Lockdown
Many people relate to it being tougher to eat well and stay active in the winter. The shorter days and cold, wet, windy weather mean it is more appealing to eat comfort food and safer to stay indoors. This year it is harder than ever as social restrictions continue adding more stress to the mix.
In previous winters there were options of trips to get out and about, meet people and get some fresh air. This year it is different and for some stiflingly so. Trying to stay active in the wintery conditions of lockdown is really tough. This is leaving many feeling trapped and overwhelmed in a spiral of inactivity, comfort eating and loneliness.
At Eat, Move, Be Happy we know this is exhausting. Being stuck inside doesn’t help you feel able to, or want to, look after your health and wellbeing. We have a solution that is helping people stop feeling trapped and less overwhelmed.
Our online coaching programmes help people meet other like-minded people and this alone makes a huge difference to many. Coaching supports them to feel more in control over eating and exercise habits, builds confidence and helps them feel better, more of the time.
We are very excited to share that, in partnership with Wharfedale, Airedale and Craven Alliance, we have secured funding to support people in the local area to improve their eating and exercise habits through our online coaching.
If you live in the Wharfdale, Airedale or Craven areas and have a chronic medical condition such as:
- cardiovascular disease
- or excess weight
And you want to feel healthier, contact us. You may be able to receive funding support for one or a combination of our wellbeing coaching programmes:
- The First Step – to set you up for success
- Live Better – changing your eating habits one week at a time
- Move Better – weekly exercise referral sessions to get you into the exercise habit
- Wellbeing Coaching – practical tools to build resilience and boost mental health and wellbeing
