Here’s just one great review of our live-in care services in Streatham:

Carer having a lovely time with his client

"My uncle has had a live-in Carer for a few years now. The service is excellent. My uncle, who is in his 90s, was frequently in hospitals and short-stay care homes. He is so much happier now with the excellent support he receives, which has enabled him to be where he is happiest: in his own home. It has given me complete peace of mind, as he is now being cared for as I would wish. All the staff I have met have been kind, caring and very efficient. I would have no reservations in thoroughly recommending Right at Home."

Streatham Local History and Places to Visit

Streatham is located along the line of an ancient Roman road that used to run from London to Brighton.  Since that time it has always been a busy route for those travelling South from London.

After the First World War Streatham developed as a location for entertainment, with the Streatham Hill Theatre, three cinemas, the Locarno ballroom and Streatham Ice Rink all adding to its reputation as "the West End of South London".  With the advent of electric tram services, it also grew as a shopping centre serving a wide area to the south.

Streatham today has no less than 23 churches including the parish church of the Holy Redeemer built in 1932 to commemorate the work of William Wilberforce the great Victorian reformer who's campaigning led to the global abolition of the slave trade.

Streatham also has 4 sports teams:

  1. Streatham RedHawks (ice hockey)
  2. London Warriors (American football)
  3. South London Storm (rugby league)
  4. Streatham-Croydon RFC (rugby union)

It also benefits from the large green space of Streatham Common. Adjacent to the historic common, there is a formal garden, The Rookery, formerly the grounds of a large house that housed visitors to one of Streatham's historic mineral wells.  The Rookery is well known for its old cedar trees in the main garden. There is also a rock garden - with a cascade and lower water garden dominated by giant Gunnera. A series of walled gardens were created in part of the former kitchen gardens, including an Old English Garden and a White Garden - which predates the more famous garden in the same style at Sissinghurst Castle.  Our carers often take clients for tea at the lovely Rookery Cafe
