As Carers Week 2020 comes to an end, we wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to our network of CareGivers and office staff for the outstanding job they are doing and continue to do, particularly during this very challenging time.

It is our motto at Right at Home to ‘make a difference every day’ and improve quality of life for our Clients and their families, and these past few months have been no exception. Here are just a few examples from our network of offices across the UK.

Right at Home Sutton and Epsom

Harry’s wife Maureen – a Client of Right at Home Sutton and Epsom – sadly passed away recently after a long battle with dementia. They were a devoted couple and had been married for over 70 years. Back in April, Harry celebrated his 93rd birthday. He also said goodbye to Maureen whose funeral was held on the same week as his birthday. Being in self-isolation and due to COVID-19 restrictions, Harry was unable to attend her funeral and had to listen to the service at the other end of the phone. This made him very sad. Some of Maureen’s CareGivers – Carol, Karen, Ruth and Tina – were so moved when they heard what had happened, they paid Harry a visit.

They baked him a cake and gathered outside his window to sing to him and wish him happy birthday. Harry, a gentle soul with a kind word for everyone, was thrilled he had not been forgotten by our CareGivers, who over the years had become his friends.

Right at Home Basingstoke and District

The staff at Right at Home Basingstoke and District recently held a baking competition and their 101-year-old Client with a sweet tooth decided the winner! The cakes were homemade with love and after the winning entry was selected, the cakes were delivered to Clients and other members of the community, who were absolutely thrilled with their sweet treats.

Right at Home Hemel Hempstead

The team at Right at Home Hemel Hempstead went above and beyond to mark VE Day on 8 May with their Clients. Knowing how special the day is to their Clients, CareGivers delivered flowers and celebration boxes with goodies including homemade scones, clotted cream, jam and shortbread biscuits so Clients could celebrate safely at home.

We’ve also been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we have received from our local communities, who have provided our CareGivers with meals, sweet treats and other goodies to say thank you for their outstanding efforts and hard work during the coronavirus outbreak. You can read more about this here.

We are incredibly grateful for our amazing team of CareGivers and their positive, can-do attitude and determination to continue delivering the highest quality care – you are amazing!
