Homecare provider Right at Home Basingstoke has become the first in the Basingstoke area to be awarded an overall Outstanding rating and has received a glowing inspection report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

During the unannounced inspection, Right at Home Basingstoke located in Daneshill, was rated “Outstanding” for Caring and Responsive leading to an Overall Outstanding. This was the second time that the service, which was established in August 2015, had been fully inspected post-registration with the CQC.

Right at Home provides care and support to people living in their own homes, predominantly in the Basingstoke area but extending to Hartley Wintney, Whitchurch, Tadley and Odiham.

According to the CQC report, one of the key strengths of the service was how caring it was.

It said: “Staff were exceptionally caring, compassionate and kind in their approach and reflected the values of the service, to treat people as they would one of their relatives.”

And continued: “Staff were motivated and were passionate about providing high quality care that they were proud of, treating people with utmost kindness and respect,”

During the inspection, CQC representatives spoke with Right at Home CareGivers, Clients and family member as well as the Registered Manager and Business Owner.

After speaking with Clients and CareGivers, the CQC inspector also praised the lengths the CareGivers went to with Clients. The report said; “Staff had outstanding skills in working with people to understand and meet their needs, even in challenging circumstances, and to support them to have a good quality of life”.

The CareGivers themselves were very complementary about the support provided to them. The report quotes one as saying: “I love it (my job)! The Coordinator and the Registered Manager are amazing. So supportive. The Director is so lovely, they all are”. Another said: “I went for a few interviews. Here they said they want carers who provide care as if it were to their mum, and I thought, ‘That’s it, that what I want’.”

Kevin Smith, owner of Right at Home Basingstoke, commented, ”I’m so pleased with the outcome of this inspection. It’s fantastic that the team here at Right at Home have been recognised for all the great work they do. They are truly inspirational and are always going the extra mile for our Clients.  We are passionate and committed to providing personalised support and are delighted that this has been highlighted within this inspection.”

The news comes hot off the heels of Right at Home GF and Right at Home Portsmouth also being rated Outstanding.
