Five local offices picked up Right at Home Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the care and franchise sectors at a black tie ceremony in the West Midlands recently.
Congratulations to Michelle Apostol in Twickenham on winning the Right Start Award; Julie Foote in East Lancashire for the Continued Development Award; Andrew Davis in Bournemouth for the Operational Excellence Award; Tim Haigh in Sutton & Epsom for the Ambassador’s Award, and to Joe Guishard in Cardiff & Newport for winning both the Annualised Sales Award and the coveted Overall Franchise Office of the Year.
Since opening 20 months ago, Joe and registered manager Lorraine Dixon have built an impressive reputation for delivering quality home care services in and around Cardiff and built a team of more than 60 caregivers and support staff.
Judges commended their exemplary record of compliance and client satisfaction, and a great back-office team that has provided stability even at times of rapid growth.
Master Franchisor Ken Deary said: “The annual award ceremony is a great opportunity to celebrate all the hard work, innovation and dedication that is shown by Right at Home owners, managers and teams on a daily basis. Our offices have contributed a great deal to their local communities in the short time most have been in business.
“Together they have created a significant number of jobs, all above minimum wage and with good development prospects; through the quality services they deliver they have helped many people achieve independence and improve their overall well-being; and bought peace of mind to each of their families and loved ones.”
The awards followed the first Right at Home UK group conference, when Right at Home owners from across the UK met to exchange ideas about how they can best meet the home care needs of our aging population.
With speakers including strategists from the UK Home Care Association and a leading dementia care expert, the aim was to ensure Right at Home stays at the forefront of the quality home care sector and protects its clients’ rights to independence as the number of over 85’s triples in the next 30 years.
Read on to find out how our judges decided on the award winners…
- Right Start – Michelle Apostol
Michelle purchased the Twickenham office shortly after it opened so faced additional challenges by taking on the new role before she had formal training. Despite this she has shown an unerring commitment to closely following and enhancing the franchise system. She also impressed judges with her excellent communications, consistency and commitment to quality in services and staffing, which has resulted in her office quickly establishing itself in the local community.
- Continued Development – Julie Foote
Judges admired Julie’s entrepreneurial spirit in re-positioning her business in a highly-visible location at the heart of her local community. She has shown a consistent determination to succeed and has responded to challenges in her opening 24 months with a proactive and innovative approach to growing her business.
- Operational Excellence – Andrew Davis
Operating in a very competitive market, Andrew has consistently followed the Right at Home franchise system, while demonstrating excellent recruitment and sales initiatives.
- Annualised Sales Award – Joe Guishard
To the franchisee with the most cumulative care hours between July 1st 2013 and June 30th 2014. Joe’s sales have set the bar high, but there are others hot on his heels!
- Ambassador of the Year – Tim Haigh
Tim spends much of his time helping fellow franchisees to grow their business and supporting potential franchisees to evaluate the group, as well as supporting our bid for the bfa Emerging Franchisor award. He also heads up our Franchise Advisory Council. He wins this award for the third year in a row.
- Overall Franchise Office of the Year – Right at Home Cardiff
This office has – like many – maintained an exemplary record of compliance. It has moved locations three times as it has expanded and has built a great back-office team that has provided stability even at times of rapid growth. They have established an enviable reputation, shown willing and proactive support of the franchise system and successfully overcome the common challenges faced by new offices, including recruitment and systems growth. This has been set against the fastest early growth of any Right at Home UK office to date.
