Visits are never rushed, our preferred visit time is a minimum of one hour, so that Client and CareGiver have the opportunity to build a bond of trust and friendship. While we have a professional dress code, we do not wear a uniform. This means our service is more discreet for the Client, but also means the CareGiver does not feel as though they are “on duty” and is encouraged to grow into their role as a supporter and regular familiar face.
Even if you have not worked in the care sector before you will have a lot of the skills you need already. Empathy, compassion, patience, and reliability are all part of the make-up of human interactions. You use it with your fiends and family, and these are the skills that will make you a great CareGiver. When we are talking to someone about joining our team, we ask ourselves a simple question. “Would I trust the CareGiver to look after my own mother in her home?” When the answer is yes, we know we have the right person. We then help you build on the aspects that made us say “yes” with a thorough induction programme. For those with more experience, or as you progress in your career the opportunity to learn the more specialised parts of the role will be available. Dementia specialist support, enhanced end of life care and training to RQF level 3 are just a few options, as well the chance to progress to leadership or to training your colleagues.
