At Right at Home Nottingham, we are blessed to support a local Charity that empowers Elderly Nottingham and Nottinghamshire residents to get out and about in the Community, making friends and taking part in social visits, day trips and community events.

The Nottingham Elders Forum is a Charity ran by Elders and for Elders to provide a fun community focused service that lends a helping hand and offers friendship and support to anyone who may feel isolated or lonely in their later years.

Each year, the Nottingham Elders Forum join us at Right at Home Nottingham for our Annual Christmas Sing Song to share in the Festive cheer and enjoy a few drinks and a bite to eat, and maybe even a dance along to some live entertainment. Following our latest event on the 12th December 2016, Founding Member Glennis very kindly said a few words about her experience:

Right at Home has the most caring staff and management we at the Nottingham Elders Forum have witnessed. We initially encountered their MD Christopher Tansley at an event several years ago and have been extremely impressed by the ethics they work to constantly. Each year at Christmas time, they invite the Forum to join them for an afternoon of fun in West Bridgford, and when dancing commences, the carers always get up and dance with the wheelchair users  and the sheer joy on their faces is a sight to behold. This isn’t just a ‘one off’  for show, all the while their compassion for the service users they are looking after shines like a beacon. They make sure everyone is treated with the utmost dignity and respect.

I would have no doubts about recommending this organisation to anyone. Well done Right at Home Nottingham!”

We wholeheartedly support The Nottingham Elders Forum in their endeavour, and the support they provide within the community is a continued success for their members. At this time of year, in particular, reaching out to people who may be lonely over the Christmas period is something that all of us can do in our spare time, to make sure that nobody feels left behind or forgotten about.

The Nottingham Elders Forum need your help!

“Over the last ten years the main aim of the Nottingham Elders Forum has been to try and eliminate loneliness and try and make a brighter life for the older population in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and to that aim, we all give our time voluntarily to the cause and are always eager to embrace any other volunteers who would wish to join us in this endeavour”.

In keeping with this, the Right at Home Nottingham Office Team will be pledging their time in aid of the #1millionminutes campaign, as featured on ITV, over the Christmas period to offer friendship and companionship to people who may feel socially isolated or who may otherwise be spending Christmas alone this year.

You too can pledge a little of your spare time this Christmas via the link below:
