How to Support Those Less Fortunate This Christmas

Support a Local Food Bank

At Right at Home Solent, we do a Christmas food appeal every year; this year, we are supporting TwoSaints Gosport & Fareham. The office for TwoSaints Gosport & Fareham is located just down the road from our main office; on Fareham High Street. With Christmas fast-approaching and it’s important to remember that there will be many people struggling at this time of year, particularly with the current Living Crisis. Christmas and the December Festive Period is a great time of year to help others; those who are less fortunate. Contact your local food banks and see if they are doing any appeals this Christmas; many of them will be. It doesn’t have to be a lot, or expensive, just picking up something extra in your food shop that can help just one person.

If you would like to check out TwoSaints and have a look at what they do, please follow this link and take a look at their website: https://www.twosaints.org.uk/

Donate Gifts for Those in Need

In times of need, even small gifts can collectively make a difference to the lives of others. Charitable Organisations, such as The Salvation Army, also run Christmas Appeals. Their appeals are for children who are less fortunate. With the current Cost-of-Living Crisis; many people are expected to turn to The Salvation Army for help this year.

They will be:

  • Providing Christmas Lunches and Companionship to the elderly who are living alone
  • Giving Christmas food parcels to families who are struggling financially
  • Gifting toys to children whose parents are unable to afford Christmas presents this year

How you can support The Salvation Army

  • Donate to our Christmas Appeal and help us reach those who need us most this Christmas.
  • You can Donate Toys for children who might not otherwise receive gifts this year (new toys, or old!)
  • Join our 'Be a Star' campaign by taking part in a fundraising activity.

The closest Salvation Army to our Fareham Office is in Segensworth; just 10 minutes away. If you are not from the Solent area, please follow this link to find your closest branch: https://www.salvationarmy.org.uk/map-page and contact them directly to see how you can support them.
