International Women's Day 2023 with Right at Home Solent

Throughout human history, women have played a significant role in the Healthcare and Social Care sectors; and with them now making up over 80% of the workforce, there is much to celebrate in 2023. Over recent decades, the number of women entering Healthcare and Medical careers has increased significantly, and with the amazing work they do every day, it's important we use today as a chance to recognise it. Despite where we are today with career opportunities for women within the Health and Social care sectors, this hasn't always been the case. Over the years, women have experienced the struggle with family and work balance, unequal pay rates, and unfavourable policies that prevent career progression. At Right at Home Solent, we have done everything we can to show support to all of the amazing women in our team. These are some of the things we have done to show support:

- We offer Flexible Hours: Our CareGivers are able to pick their availability and choose how many hours they want to work. We do this so they all have the perfect home life-work life balance, that suits them. There is nothing worse than feeling as though your work life is consuming everything; we want our CareGivers to spend much-needed time with their family, and this time is completely chosen by them.

- Excellent Pay Rates - Right at Home Solent offer industry-leading pay rates to all CareGivers; we are the highest paying Care company within the Solent region. Our CareGivers work so hard and do such a great job looking after our clients, it's only fair to pay them the best rate!

- We offer regular Focus Groups for our CareGivers. Although these are a chance for our CareGivers to have extra training; they are also a great chance for them to share any problems or issues they are having. We are proud to provide a safe and comfortable workspace, where all employees are listened to and we always want to ensure that our CareGivers are happy. Our Focus Groups are also a safe space for our female CareGivers to socialise and talk to one another about non-related work issues. 

- Our Office Manager Ali is our Mental Health Support, she is qualified to provide Mental Health Support to all of our CareGivers. Having someone they can talk to, whenever they need to, is key to making sure our CareGivers are happy, and when when problems do arise, we can them support them in anyway necessary. 

- We value Progression! At Right at Home Solent, we value Career Progression and we do everything we can to support people within their careers in anyway we can. We allow people to progress from a CareGiver role, into a Team Leader role and we once a CareGiver has been with us for a year, we offer to pay for them to complete an NVQ in Adult Social Care. At Right at Home Solent, the sky is the limit!

Despite women making up nearly 80% of the Healthcare sector worldwide, the lack of representation of women and everything they do for industry is worrying. That is where Right at Home Solent differentiate; we are proud to acknowledge all the achievements of our CareGivers all year round; no matter how big or small. From everyone at Right at Home Solent, we just wanted to say a special thank you to all the strong, inspirational women on our team. We are so proud of the team we have and the work we are able to do everyday; and this wouldn't be possible without the work of our CareGivers - you are all amazing!
