Reminiscence in the Park, Southampton

On the 10th of September, Right at Home Solent attended Reminiscence in the Park at the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, Southampton. Reminscience in the Park is a Dementia Friendly Festival organised by Alison Fisher and the Burlsedon, Hamble and Hound Dementia Action Group to provide support and showcase available options for families' with loved ones that may have Dementia. Just a stone's throw away, there was the Hampshire Street Food Festival, The Big Eat. There were stalls upon stalls of tasty food, live music and activities. It's safe to say Royal Victoria Country Park was the place to be.

Dementia Care at Home Near You

With charities and businesses alike pitched up in the unfortunate rainy weather, it was amazing to see everyone still spending the time to put the finishing touches to their stall before the festival opening.

Whilst the rain had put some people off, we had a lovely time talking to the other stalls, and once the weather had eased up, people started to arrive. Our Recruitment Assistant, Jazz, painted faces with rainbows, stars, flowers of all colours and musical notes. Trainee Marketing Assistant Lucy and Office Manager Ali gave out leaflets and spoke to people about our services, enticing them with Haribo and our colourful bunting.

Right at Home Solent believe in providing outstanding 'person-centric' care. We deliver a minimum of one-hour calls to our Clients to ensure the Care and Companionship necessary for that person is given to the best of our ability, with no stress or rushing. It also lets the CareGiver and Client build a relationship of trust and understanding; we try our best to match CareGivers and Clients based on their personalities by using a one-page profile. Unfortunately, this isn't always possible, but having a minimum of an hour together and having an introduction call beforehand allows more of a rapport. We have CareGivers based across Fareham, Gosport, Southampton and the New Forest, so they often have a good local knowledge of things to do in your area. Whether that's a walk to Hill Head in Fareham or a day at in Lee-On-Solent.
