The Passing of HRH, Queen Elizabeth II

Published: 12/09/2022

At just 21 years old, Queen Elizabeth II declared that would dedicate her whole life to serving the people; and she did just that. Earlier this year we celebrated her Diamond Jubilee, with 70+ years on the throne, her extraordinary reign spanned more than 7 decades. The whole nation has enjoyed watching the Queen throughout her years on the throne, whilst we have also seen the growing of the Royal family; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. However, as we began to learn last week that the Queen was becoming unwell, we closed the Right at Home Solent office at 17:30 on Thursday evening, on what we thought was just a normal day, we all spoke about how we wished HRH Queen Elizabeth II a speedy recovery. Everyone shared different ways in which the Queen had impacted their life one way or another, but it was clear...all of us held utmost respect for this phenomenal lady.

However, by the time I reached home, I looked my phone and the unfortunate news had spread...the Queen Elizabeth II had passed away, that day, at Balmoral in Scotland. The first thing that struck me was what an icon she had been in my life, the example of a strong daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and working woman from such a young age. Her service to the community, even when she may not have been getting the due recognition. The relentless juggle for 70 years. What an amazing legacy she will be leaving. Through the toughest of times, often being the only female in rooms full of Male Leaders, through unprecedented world events and controversial moments.

She reigned with dignity and humility. Maybe she knew in the end her service to the wider community and the world, was all that mattered. Even through the toughest moments, don't we all want to make a difference to someone, somewhere in our lifetime? From Right at Home Solent, thank you to HRH The Majesty our Queen, for the life long dedication. You will continue to inspire for generations to come.
On Friday 9th September 2022, the day after Queen Elizabeth II had passed, we put a condolences book in our Fareham Office and invited our CareGivers, our Clients and their NOKs into the office to sign the book and have a chat.We understand that for many, this is an extremely upsetting time, but Right at Home Solent is there for you, we are here at the end of the phone or if you'd like to pop in for a chat. Thank you.
