How can Right at Home Solent help with respite care?

Respite care is temporary relief provided to a primary CareGiver, often a family member caring for their loved one. We understand the responsibility associated with providing care for your loved one. So we also recognise that family carers may need some time off from their duties or extra support. Right at Home Solent can provide one-off visits to alleviate some stress or routine visits to provide regular care.

At Right at Home Solent, we offer a range of flexible services for respite care in Fareham, Gosport and Southampton. We can arrange a one-off or regular weekly visit to give family CareGivers a break from their caring responsibilities. Alternatively, we can provide support as and when required.

You may need respite care for an hour or two each week, or it could be managed live-in care for several weeks whilst a family CareGiver goes on holiday. From companionship and meal preparation to full support for someone with more complex care needs, our team of Carers at Right at Home Solent have someone suitable for the job.

Our aim is always to make a temporary change in care services as easy for our Clients as possible. We care for our Clients the same way we care for our families, so rest assured, your loved one is receiving the highest standard of care.

How Respite Care Works

  • As with all new Clients, we will spend time with them and their family in their home. This way, we get to know every Client as an individual and can observe their day-to-day routines.
  • We will agree with the Client and their family on a specific care plan, addressing how our team of CareGivers can help.
  • We will then match a suitable CareGiver, introducing them before delivering in-home care.
  • We also arrange, in advance, what level of communication the Client's family would like during our time with them.

Respite care can reduce stress for the primary CareGiver and family, often leading to better patience and well-being. Home respite care can alleviate frustration and exhaustion and offers the person receiving care valuable interaction with other people. It also provides a fresh set of eyes; daily routines can become stale, but the respite carer might be able to offer advice to help breathe renewed energy into the role of CareGiver.
