World Alzheimer’s Month 2022 

September is World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month 2022! The first World Alzheimer’s Month was 2012, and since then, every year, the aim of World Alzheimer’s Month has been to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that exists currently surrounding Alzheimer’s and Dementia. This year, World Alzheimer's DAY is Tuesday 21st September. The chosen theme for is year’s World Alzheimer’s Month is ‘knowledge’, with a special focus on post-diagnosis support. The aim is to educate as many people as possible about Dementia and how to deal with someone who is suffering with the disease. World Alzheimer's Awareness Month is an excellent opportunity to help those with both with Dementia, and those who want to learn more about it. 

Why is World Alzheimer’s Month so important?

Across the globe, Dementia is approximately one of the biggest challenges we face, with nearly 50 million people living with Dementia worldwide. For us to tackle this international Dementia challenge, it is important that we work together and share best practice with one another. Alzheimer's Disease is the most common from of Dementia and it is fatal. There is currently no way to prevent, cure or slow the progression of Alzheimer's, and it is currently the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. The stigmatisation and misinformation around Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease continues to remain a global problem that requires instant attention and instant action.
