Urmston's History
Urston is a town which lies on the south boundary of the river mersey
The main occupation in urmston all the way up to the 19 century was farming until weaving became a more prominent sourse of employment
Bigger industries took over and the Cheshire lines railway was introduced to the area in 1873 allowing the population to grow
Urmston Old Hall was at the centre of power during the middle ages It was owned by the urston family for many years before being passed onto the Trafford family.In the 16th century the house was completely rebuilt with brick and timber.
