Adult Social Care is a varied sector, there is lots of room for progression if that’s what you want.

As well as progression opportunities you have the ability to undertake extra qualifications and gain knowledge in subjects that you find interesting. Be that extra online classes in Dementia Care or hands-on training with Nurses to support clients who may have Diabetes or need their catheter changed. There is something for everyone in Care!

Success Stories

Progression? Is that what you are looking for?

Patrice started with us in May 2021, she has some previous experience in Care but since starting with us she has shown great potential. She started with us as a full-time CareGiver for the Putney area, it soon became obvious Patrice had a real passion for the role and in November 2021 was promoted to Senior Carer. She took on more responsibility, undertaking spot checks, mentoring and supporting new Care Assistants during shadowing shifts and sharing best practices with peers and the wider team. Now in January 2022, Patrice has become our Trainee Coordinator supporting Abbie in all things rotas, scheduling and carer based.

"My transition from a Carer to being part of the office team was scary at first. The rotas seemed daunting however with the support I have received - it’s now exciting and fun. I love it! I love the challenges and not one day is the same…. It is also exciting getting to be a part of the background work. I’m enjoying getting to learn the ins and outs of clients and the rotas and I enjoy supporting the care staff!"

Qualifications? Wanting academic opportunities?

Every day with Right at Home Wimbledon, Putney, Kingston together with Central London you learn something new, be that in the field, in the office or through extra qualificationsEvery day’s a school day!

With us, you have the option to take on extra qualifications to build your knowledge. We offer our Care Assistants the ability to undertake their Level 2 in Health and Adult Care, Level 3 Diploma in Lead Adult Care Worker and Level 5 Diploma in Care and Leadership management.

We currently have two Carers who are working towards their Level 2 in Health and Adult Care. Level 2 is a great way to understand the core principles and procedures in Adult Social Care and a great stepping stone to gain further knowledge. Last year two of Central London Care Assistants, Ken and Emilia completed their Diploma Level 3 in Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3. Both started their Level 3’s under the Central London branch and after joining Right at Home Wimbledon Putney and Kingston in late 2020 chose to continue. Ken achieved a Merit, congratulations!

“I started the Diploma when I was with RAH Central London Branch and when I joined with RAH WPK I chose to continue with it. There were a few challenges along the way including the COVID-19 pandemic. Although causing some disruptions and delays; I was determined to persevere and complete the apprenticeship and was elated when I received the qualification! It has expanded my knowledge and understanding in health and social care and has given me the confidence to fulfil my duties to a higher level and to take on additional roles if the opportunity presents itself.”

Continued Learning

If you don’t have the time to take on qualifications, then you have the opportunity to take part in specialised courses in subjects that are of interest to you. Joanne has been with us for nearly 3 years now covering Putney and Kingston area and has some extra time so has decided to pursue this route. Joanne is doing courses in Counselling and Mental Health.

In addition, all our Carers that come onboard need to complete online training. The online training enables our Care Assistants to provide better care at the point of contact. In addition, it encompasses aspects that of care that you may be doing at the minute but may in future and therefore you will already have some underlying knowledge. Once the compulsory modules are completed you have the option to undertake further modules in subjects of interest to you. For example, if you have a client who may have diabetes you may decide to gain some further knowledge thus completing the Diabetes online module.

With Right at Home, you have the ability to further your knowledge and career in several ways, we want our Carers to shine and will support them however we can!
