Right at Home Ipswich presents "A Heart-warming Christmas Tale"
On December 22nd, Right at Home Ipswich was due to close the office for the holidays when the phone rang. It was 'Gordon’s' daughter asking for help.
So, at the eleventh hour, we stayed open - and launched ‘Operation Home for Christmas’.
Deputy Care Manager, Catherine, along with our Caregivers, stepped up and volunteered to help. They were completely motivated by Gordon’s desire to get home (he felt that at the age of 93, if he didn’t get home for Christmas, he might not get home at all).
Shortly after this, we contacted Gordon’s daughter to confirm we could assist and get her dad home for Christmas to be with his wife, Betty. She was over the moon.
On Christmas Eve, Catherine met with Gordon at home and introduced Gordon’s first Caregiver, Anna who helped Gordon settle back in and made him comfortable.
Catherine said she felt she had to do everything possible to get him home, and that especially at Christmas, the thought of an elderly couple being apart broke her heart.
She said that seeing them together, the happiness on both of their faces was clear for all to see, and it made her feel happy and proud, knowing that RAH Ipswich had been able to make that happen. Thanks Caregivers and Catherine 🥰
