Right at Home's New Long-Term Partnership with North Liverpool Food Bank Begins

Published: 25/01/2024

This month signalled the beginning of Right at Home’s continuous volunteer partnership with local North Liverpool Food Bank.

The North Liverpool Food Bank is part of the Trussell Trust’s nationwide network that is dedicated to providing a minimum of three days worth of nutritious food to those in crisis.

With an estimated 11.3 million people across the UK living in food poverty as of 2023, there has been a substantial increase in the demand for food banks up and down the country with 47% of those needing support are households including children. The increased demand for food aid services has meant that these food banks have also needed to increase their own demand for donations, financial aid, and volunteers from local communities.

Right at Home was founded by Ken Deary on the principle of aiding those within the community with healthcare needs to remain in their own homes. Ken’s promise to help people maintain their independence, their comfort, and remain in their own home for as long as possible is rooted in his own family experience and his drive to improve the quality of homecare provisions in the community.

This new relationship with North Liverpool Food Bank is a continuation of Ken’s work in the community as he helps provide aid to those in need who are struggling with food, home, and financial security.

The first Friday of each month will see volunteers from the Right at Home National Office in Crosby travelling to the North Liverpool Food Bank to provide integral support to members of the community in need. Whether this is working in the pantry or speaking to those in need of food aid, Right at Home’s volunteers are committed to making a difference in the local community.

CEO Lucy Campbell and Founder Ken Deary were the first of Right at Home’s National Office to volunteer last week with Ken stating of the experience:

“We had a fantastic afternoon working on the doorstep of the community that I grew up in to help those in need. With Lucy and I both being born in the city, and myself in North Liverpool, being able to give back to a local charity that acts as a lifeline to so many individuals and family has been very special and truly heart-warming.”

This new continuing volunteer partnership joins a monthly financial and food donation that Right at Home have set up with North Liverpool Food Bank.

“The dedicated help from Ken and the team at Right at Home has been monumental,” said a spokesperson for the food bank. “It will really make a difference in our community. We are really looking forward to working together and welcoming volunteers from Right at Home each month."
