97% of our workforce at Right at Home Sefton are likely to experience menopause

We are taking part in a nationwide workplace initiative that aims to challenge the stigma surrounding menopause and champion a supportive work environment for employees.

The initiative titled: Menopause Makes A Difference, launched this month, provides detailed advice, insights and experiences from local Sefton people in the homecare sector living with menopause. The campaign was launched in time with the British Menopause Society’s Menopause Awareness Month which encourages employers and employees to talk openly about the challenges and changes menopause brings.

Throughout October and beyond, we'll will be sharing exclusive stories from our network on how menopause affected them, to support others in the area who are going through menopause. We will also be exploring how we can support people experiencing menopause and what more can be done to make workplaces more inclusive.

To further the discussion about menopause in the workplace, we are holding menopause training workshops and drop-in sessions. We'll also be sharing information on any menopause related activity taking place within the borough of Sefton, so team members, Clients and their families can gain a greater understanding of menopause and what support is available to them in the local area.

Right at Home Sefton Managing Director, James Levine is excited to launch the campaign saying: “In Sefton, 97% of our employees are likely to experience menopause. These caring and talented individuals must be valued in our workplace and encouraged to come to us if they are struggling. Even those who do not go through menopause at any point can do more to support our colleagues who do. I know this campaign will be a learning curve for all of us and I can’t wait to see the positive outcomes it brings.”

Right at Home Sefton Registered Manager, Shirley Wright is keen to be recognised as an employer that is willing to raise important subjects within their team and Client base, saying: ‘I am proud to lead an organisation that is championing such an important initiative. We have long prided ourselves on how seriously we take our role in the Sefton area. Leading by example and sharing our knowledge across the community, not just for our team members and Clients, is something we love to do’.

Right at Home Chief Executive Officer, Lucy Campbell welcomed the campaign saying: “Over half of our population will experience menopause. It has long been a taboo subject but without talking about it and raising awareness we cannot reassure people that it is just a natural part of life. It’s extremely important to us that our employees feel supported and listened to in their working lives and I hope this campaign will encourage them to speak up and learn from one another.”

We're proud to be a supportive and inclusive employer for our carers at all stages of their career. If you want to work for a team that will invest in you browse our current opportunities today.
